Residency Promoting Inclusion, Equity, and Diversity
In 2017, a group of residents and faculty formed RPrIDE. We recognized that racism is at the core of health inequities and that following through on our commitment to train healers and leaders in primary care meant committing ourselves to the work of antiracism. Since then, we have developed a comprehensive curriculum that includes internal reflection, understanding the history of racism and medicine, recognizing structural inequities in patient care, responding to microaggressions, and building tools to critique the use of racial categories in current practice. All residents and faculty are invited to participate.
Our sub-internship provides the opportunity for invited visiting medical students to strengthen their skills in Family Medicine and experience the Kaiser Permanente Washington Family Medicine Residency. Students spend four weeks at the Kaiser Permanente Washington Family Medicine Residency in Seattle in a variety of clinical settings. Each student receives mentorship from the RPrIDE faculty and will be paired with a resident during their time.
Up to three students are selected annually.
Includes a $3,000 scholarship from Washington Permanente Medical Group.
